No not Christmas in July

BUT I thought it would be a good idea to start creating Christmas cards, so that my Ladies will be ready for Christmas.  Before we know it, it will be Christmas!!

When making Christmas cards, it is better to be able to make them on-mass.  To do this it is wise to use a simple design. This one is quick but looks like it took a lot of time.

Tomorrow, hubby and I are off to Sydney to catch up with our son and his family.  (Can’t wait to give the 2 grandsons, lots of hugs and kisses, spoiling them and “cooking with Nana”. reading bed time stories and them showing us how to turn on the TV and playing DS games!!  🙂 )

I have a few birthday cards that I have made, which I will post while away.

My granddaughter turns 6 this week, so here is the card that I made for her.  I used all SU items except the stamp set…. that I bought in England when we were over there last year.

Water Colouring using our water colouring paper.  (Notice I used my vellum butterflies.  Also the next picture will show how I used Shimmer Paint on the water-colour).

As we will be away for her birthday, we celebrated last night.  She loved all her gifts and was oh hum about the card!!  Well, she’s only 6 and she does have her priorities!  My daughter keeps all the cards, so I know one day she will appreciate the time and effort her Nan made to create a card for her……..

Till next time, have fun ‘playing’.

Hugs

I AM READY

FOR CHRISTMAS!!!  🙂

Last Christmas I was so behind that at the last-minute, I went and bought a few cards… shh, don’t tell anybody 🙂

For my overseas cards I try to create something that has an OZ feel.  Take a look at last year’s card.

This year I used West Australia’s state colours YELLOW and black.  As our State has some of the best wildflowers  (We are not called the Wild Flower state for nothing!), I used Bloom Away, stamp set.  (I am so sad that this set will retire at the end of this month…. Whaa).

I stamped the flower (used basic grey) onto Confetti White and coloured with water-colour pencils.  I always use water-colour paper and just experimented on Confetti White. I was amazed at the result (no pilling) so I used it for all my cards.

For my other cards, I used a retired stamp set.  One of the first stamps set I picked when I became a Demonstrator.

HINT:  To make a batch of cards,  Think production-line.

  • Cut out all the card stock for the card.
  • Stamp image(s) and sentiment.
  • Simple is good.  I didn’t add glitter or embossing powder.  The only ‘bling’ came from using Gold (Encore) ink and gold card stock.

With this set, I always use the stamp-a-ma-jig for the tree.  I didn’t this time and the effect looked OK.  The less to do the quicker the cards get done!

The next lot of Christmas cards will be made for those special people, such as family and friends.  I will take time and add more embellishments,  to the cards.

Come back again to have a look at them…

WOW, I am now ready for Christmas and it is only August!

Unbelievable!

I’M BACK!!

Ok, my holiday is over and I am back to blogging.  BUT I have been busy.  Already I have designed cards for my next 5 classes!  (Oh it feels good, to be sooooo in front).  The night before classes, all I have to do is prepare.  “Oh what a feeling”

This year, I have told my ladies that we will be discovering and getting messy 🙂  There will be a lot of using the brayer (starting simple) then moving on to advanced brayering.  Water colouring will be a key element in my cards this year too.

So don’t forget to come back and espy my class cards.

I received some beautiful hand-made Christmas cards that I would like to share.

Ok, just one more (I don’t think so)

Another Christmas Card!!  It is amazing how many cards can be made from one stamp set!  I will be able to use this stamp set for many years to come and so will the ladies that have bought this set – SEASON OF JOY

This card, I have called OZ Christmas Card.  Why?  The colours – the Sun Burnt Country…!  AND the corrigated FENCE!  Can you see it now?
