Challenge anyone?

I decided that I needed to be challenged so…. I entered a colour challenge!  These are the colours that had to be used in making a card.  Let me say, these are not colours that I would group together.  (Well maybe two or three together but not 5! Plus I added another colour – Confetti White!)  In the end I made two cards.  Mmm, the colour combo does grow on you 🙂

The first card I made, I used a retired stamp set and thought I had better do another one using a current set.  Same colours but two cards that a poles apart.

CARD# 1

Odd, but it isn’t my kind of Style but I am sure that my mother would have loved it.  Can you see what I did with the punch?  Let me show you…

Punched through the card front and added the sentiment to the inside!  Different, eh?

Used a few dimentionals to give height to the sentiment.  Added the yellow card to conceal the ribbon edges.  Also added another yellow strip and flowers.  There is still room to write a message.

STAMP SETS:
CARD: See above for colour combo PLUS Confetti White
INK:  Peach Parfait, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz, Shimmer Paint – Champagne Mist
EMBOSSING FOLDER: Framed Tulips, Polka Dots
EMBOSSITS:  Birds & Blooms, Little Leaves,
PUNCHES:  Scallop Oval, Oval large, Decorative Label, 1/2″ circle,  1/4″ circle, Scallop Trim Border.
RIBBON:  Daffodil Delight

EXTRAS:  Big Shot, sponges (for shading), Dimentionals, Tombow, Brayer (to edge the tulips), Brad – Square Fire.

Phew….. Now for CARD #2

The Ladies in my Tuesday class will be making a card similar to this one.  The layout and the technique.  Oops, I didn’t take a picture of the inside… it has the sentiment inside the card.

So have the colours grown on you?  Maybe I will use the combo to make a CLASS card?  Mmm, what do you think Ladies?

I AM BACK AND READY TO GO!

Hubby and I have had the BEST holiday ever!  After seven weeks away, it was hard to come back and be “NORMAL”  🙂

If you are interested in our holiday where we visited, Britain, Ireland, Wales and Dubai, check out our blog: http://robnolga.wordpress.com

As soon as I unpacked, did the washing, ironing, hug the grandkids, it was a rush back into my room and ‘play’ with my new goodies from the new catalogue!

Here are some of the results…..

STAMP SETS:  Great Friend, All a flutter, Fifth avenue floral

I JUST LOVE CHAMPAGNE MIST.  It is my favourite!  Just love it, love it!!!  I am sure my ladies will grow to love it too  🙂  They might have no choice – a bit like my love of Chocolate Chip 🙂  Notice the embossed parts – covered with mist.  So easy to use.  Just love it – mmm, do you think I love it.  🙂  😉

Notice the mist!

Our friend, Pete W,  had a birthday and this is the card I made for him.  Happy Birthday Peter W.

Yes, I used the mist on a bloke card!  And why can’t men have glitter on their cards?  🙂  The mist just highlights the leaves.

Using the Sizzix die, LEAVES #2 this card was quickly made.
CARD:  Early Espresso (My NEW ‘choc chip’ ;-0 ), Crumb Cake and River Rock.  Nice combo, if I say so myself!

FREO….Way to go!!

My husband’s favourite football team is the Fremantle Dockers and he is so excited that the team is in the final round.  When I said to him that I didn’t have a card planned for this week’s classes.  HELP!  He suggested that I use the Docker’s colours to make a card…. Now these colours will not be found on any colour chart to be matched together so I thought… “you’re on’.  It’s amazing what you can do if a challenge is placed in front of you.  🙂

I know that he is excited with his team and happy that I made a card in the team’s colours.  This one is for him.

Colours of the Club are:  Purple (Elegant Eggplant), white (Confetti White and Whisper White),  red (Real Red)  and green (Garden Green).

I made an alternative card for the ladies.

A group….

…. of cards which shows that I have been making cards!!  I have been a bit lazy – if I am not taking  pictures of my cards then I can’t blog without them!!

On the weekend, I will take pictures of the other class cards I have made and will post them.  Hopefully, then I will get back on track!  So keep checking back or your emails if you have registered for up-dates to my blog.

Other colours, different sentiment, and a different card!

Yes, it is about that time to start thinking about Christmas and Christmas Cards.  This one uses the technique – POLISHED STONE.  A few of the Ladies fell in love with this technique and have been making some amazing cards.

OK, OK, I KNOW – ANOTHER LEAFY CARD!

BUT I just love the leaves #2 Die and the pattern paper, Autumn Traditions.  What a great compo they make.

Now GREEN is not one of my favourite colours.  On reflection, I haven’t made too many cards with green card stock.  Mmm, I will have to change that.

More mustard just give the card the lift it needs.

Leaves (again)

This card is the female version of using leaves and Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper.  (Take a quick look at the last post where the class made a male card, using leaves and Autumn Traditions).

BASE:  Elegant Eggplant

INK:  More Mustard, Elegant Eggplant, Ruby Red

BEADS…. we made some paper beads using a skewer and a tooth pick!  Fun was had by all!  We had a try run first and spoke about different papers that can be used to make beads.

Now here is a picture of the two cards that we have made using Leaves.  One for the males in our lives and the other made for the females.

This will be my last post for a couple of weeks as Hubby and I are off to Sydney to spend time with our son and his family.  We can’t wait to be with our grandsons.
